Gifts galore.

Somehow, it's not December, but I'm giving everyone and their mom (literally) gifts over the next couple of weeks:

1. Chris's birthday is on Saturday. He's getting some incredible gifts. I'll go into detail after Saturday (with photos, too).

2. My last day of work is tomorrow. Kathleen is getting a pretty awesome Fredericksburg-themed frame (photo soon, since it's not even finished yet) and a gift card to her favorite restaurant: La Petite Auberge.

3. Since I'll be leaving the Grey's soon, I have some thank you gifts for them: a gift card to one of our favorite restaurants to frequent: Margarita Grill, a retro wallet from the 1984 World Fair in New Orleans (where they first met), diamond fleur de lis earrings for Mrs. Grey, and one of my first pieces of art (see right). Check out more photos of the Mardi Gras mirror (made from authentic New Orleans Mardi Gras beads) at my art page.

4. Nick is in Officer Candidate School right now, and he's dying for things to keep his mind off of boot camp. Even though he doesn't know it, after his 10 weeks at OCS, he'll be coming home to a beautifully made high school scrapbook. I've included his memories from wrestling, soccer, Mr. Stafford (which he, of course, won), and graduation.

5. EDIT: I realized, as I read through this after my rush to post it yesterday afternoon, that I didn't mention Jen's awesome birthday present that I gave to her over the weekend. Jen, I just read your comment, and I'm a big dummy. Your present is obvs one of the best EVER. Jen got a cupcake-themed birthday present: the Vegan Cupcakes Take over the World cookbook, a mini cupcake baking tray, mini cupcake baking papers, sprinkles, and two cupcake-to-go containers. I can't wait until we live together and go to cupcake heaven! Also, side note: Chris bought me the I <3 Trader Joe's cookbook yesterday. I'm super pumped to be back in Williamsburg, close to Trader Joe's, so I can make some delicious dinners.

Needless to say, I'm ready to receive a few gifts of my own. Birthweek, come oooon. Why are you 4 months away?!

Smartening up.

It's official: I care more about E! News than real life news. Time to smarten up. I'm reading CNN.com every morning, and it's about time I know the makeup of the president's cabinet:

VP: Joe Biden (yes, I knew that one!)
Department of State: HillBill Clinton (knew that one, too)
Department of the Treasury: Timothy Geithner (no comment..)
Department of Defense: Robert Gates
Department of Justice: AG Eric Holder
Department of the Interior: Kenneth Salazar (that sounds familiar)
Department of Agriculture: Thomas Vilsack (def knew that one)
Department of Commerce: Gary Locke
Department of Labor: Hilda Solis (get it, girl!)
Department of Health and Human Services: Kathleen Sebelius
Department of Housing & Urban Development: Shaun Donovan (yeeeah HUD!)
Department of Transportation: Ray LaHood (can't be worse than VDOT)
Department of Energy: Steven Chu (yay energy)
Department of Education: Arnie Duncan
Department of Veterans Affairs: Erin Shinseki
Department of Homeland Security: Janet Napolitano (reminds me of ice cream)

Wow, I feel smarter already.

Also, I put the finishing touches on one of the Grey's presents I'm giving them as a thank you for letting me stay with them during my internship this summer. It's a really awesome Mardi Gras inspired mirror.. so obvs, they'll love it. Pictures to come!

Blogilicious def.

So, I used to have a blog from 9th grade until 12th grade. Then, I became a college student and I stopped. I regret it.. a lot. I'm starting up again in hopes of getting through my last two years of law school, by reminding myself of what is important.

I've started painting, drawing, and doing other artsy things lately. A lot of my pieces are gifts for other people, but I will always be sure to take picture of them, so I can post them on here. I really want to manage my time over the next two years, so I can continue to play with art.

In addition to posting my art on here, I'm going to use my blog to talk about all of the other wonderful (non law schooly) things that I do.

More to come.
